Name:Medieval pit, pottery sherds, shell and clay working debris

Summary

Fieldwalking in 1986 by the Fenland Survey recovered a small number of medieval pottery sherds from this area. Further fieldwalking in 1998 also recovered medieval and post medieval pottery sherds. Excavation later in that year recorded the presence of medieval pottery sherds and fired clay slag in a pit.

23 January 1986. Fieldwalking on weathered ploughsoil (S1).
Odd medieval sherds over field. TSC CE.
Finds In NCM.

13th/15th century sherds, including Grimston - one concentration.
