Full description
October 1984. Hales site 137. Fieldwalking recently ploughed.
5 flints.
2 16th century glazed red earthenware.
1 post medieval stoneware.
1 tin glazed earthenware.
Sample of 24 brick fragments; many semi-vitrified; sandy, mould marks on one face. Average 110-115 x about 45-48 x 7. Early post medieval (or very late medieval). Sample of 10 peg tile fragments including 2 with square holes and 1 underfired.
Burnt bricks, sample only collected, were on edge of shallow pit but not infill. Other pits in area. Overall fieldwalking confirms impression that Inglossa deserted medieval village did not spread into this field.
