Fieldwalking in this area during 1983 recovered large quantites of Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery sherds. Types identidfied included Saxon Thetford Ware, medieval Grimston Ware and post medieval stoneware.

Full description

27 October 1983. South of St Botolph's Church site and road, in St Botolph's hamlet. Surface finds on margin of field of springing winter barley.
One rim Thetford (?) type jar of odd form.
Two flat bases Thetford type.
Three bodysherds Thetford type.
Thirty bodysherds medieval unglazed, may include some Thetford, also 1 base. 1 glazed Grimston.
Six late medieval/Trans.
One stoneware 15th-16th century.
One post medieval.
