Summary

In 1956 ploughing in this field revealed the flint foundations of buildings. Subsequent aerial photography in 1977 showed the soilmarks of enclosures, which could relate to old field boundaries. Metal detecting in this area during 1995-97 recovered a selection of objects including a Roman enamelled stud, a medieval jetton, a Roman coin of Valerian II and a Late Saxon disc brooch.

Full description

1956. Flint foundations of buildings revealed by ploughing in this field.
Seen by R. R. Clarke (NCM) 6 October 1956.

April 1977. Aerial photography by Aerial Archaeology Foundation shows soil mark of right angle, forming part of rectangle with road as west side and no north side. Could be an old field boundary, but does not connect with others. E. Rose (NAU) 24 November 1982.
