Summary

This is the site of a short-lived late medieval to post medieval settlement. Unusually this is the only example of settlement expansion in this period when settlement was undergoing a phase of contraction. Fieldwalking has recovered fragments of Roman, medieval and post medieval pottery, as well as post medieval building materials.

(S1) records this as Site 73 and discusses it in some detail. The settlement seems to have been relatively short-lived, and is unusual in that settlement was generally contracting in this area in the late medieval to early post medieval period. This is the only example of settlement expansion in Loddon during this period.
See (S1) for more details.
S. Spooner (NLA), 23 May 2006.
