Summary

Metal detecting and fieldwalking in this area during 1983-93 recovered a variety of objects. Finds included prehistoric flint flakes, sherds of Iron Age or Early Saxon pottery, Roman tesserae, a probable Middle Saxon bronze plaque, a Late Saxon finger ring, a medieval English jetton and a post medieval strap fitting.

Full description

1983 to 1984. Down side of field and in southwest corner.
Concentration of slag, Roman sherds and tesserae. Iron Age or Early Saxon sherd, Middle Saxon pottery (including Ipswich ware), Thetford-type ware, medieval pottery.
Two retouched flint flakes.
