Summary

A World War Two, Type 24 pillbox has been identified from an extant structure surviving in the garden of 20 Beckmeadow Way. It has been visited on the ground and is also visible on aerial photographs. It is one of several pillboxes and other military installations which have been identified at Mundesley, which was heavily defended during the war.

Pill box, polygonal. Noted by Pillbox Survey.
House located by E. Rose (NAU) 27 October 1982 (though pill box not seen).

NMP mapping has led to the alteration of the central grid reference of the site from TG 3142 3620 to TG 3139 3617.

The pillbox described above is visible as an extant structure on aerial photographs (S1-3). It occupies a location in the corner of a garden on photographs taken from 1941 onwards. From this position it overlooks Mundesley Beck and Water Lane (the B1145). It forms part of a network of anti-invasion defences which surrounded Mundesley during World War Two.
