Summary

Metal detecting and fieldwalking has recovered a large number of Roman finds. These include coins, pieces of pot and a Roman disc brooch. The number of finds suggests this may be part of a larger Roman settlement also including NHER 18255. Medieval and post medieval finds were also recorded.

1982.
Roman greyware sherds and few bronze coins. Not seen but 'sound late'.
Black patches in soil.

Pre March 1986.
Scatter of coins, mainly from site NHER 18255 but edge of vague circle delineating findspot crosses edge of this field.

One bodysherd probably medieval unglazed.

October 1997. Metal detecting finds.
Umbonate Roman disc brooch, the dome decoration with champleve enamel in a sunburst pattern, another ring of fourteen blue triangles and an inner ring of fourteen alternating blue and red triangles. Four lugs around circumference, one of which expands into a loop. White metal coated. Hinge, pin and catchplate survive on reverse. Almost exactly similar to (S1). 1st or 2nd century AD.
