Full description

Cottage north of church.
L-shaped, timber framed with timbering exposed on south and east above brick ground floor. At rear (north) of east side upper storey projects. Blocked two-light window in apex of south gable. Rest of walls rendered over in clay. Much Victorianised, with recent thatched roof, bargeboards and Costessey chimney.
A. Carter (UEA) dates to after 1470 because of side purlins; building in E. Rose's (NAU) opinion is 16th century.
Visited by E. Rose (NAU) 8 November 1978.

(S1), which should be consulted for full details, sees this as a 16th century hall house with inserted 17th century stack and floor; note original windows and braces. Ornamentalised in 1840s. Suggests an early parsonage.
E. Rose (NLA) 18 November 1998.
