Full description

House in Canns Lane, now called Manor House in 1989.
East end of building is a single cell house, two storeys in height but with only 1 large window and a dormer.
West gable of old brick with chimney pot above, and polygonal angle buttress to north. Brickwork of north wall much patched, but whole seems 16th or early 17th century. Lower extension seems 18th century on exterior, but is it a recasing? For style of buildings with single bay at one end higher than rest, see King's Head Inn nearby, and several local cottages, though none of these presents any evidence of being older than the 18th century.
Visited by E. Rose (NAU) 8 November 1978.

The King's Head is in fact early 17th century, later extended, see NHER 25242.
E. Rose (NAU) 14 April 1989.

Revised (S1) agrees that taller single cell section is 16th century and lower sction is 17th. The older section has a basement. See (S1) for full description of remains of windows etc.
E. Rose (NAU) 17 November 1998.
