Summary

Fieldwalking in 1978 and metal-detecting from 2000-02 has recovered a large collection of metal finds and pottery pieces dating to various periods. Artefacts include Roman greyware pottery sherds and a military buckle as well as a medieval padlock case and part of some post-medieval nutcrackers. Metal-detecting in 2011 recovered Roman coins, pottery and fragment of vessel handle.

Full description

1978.
On ploughed surface. Scatter of pottery over area approximately 100m x 50m.
Two Roman sherds (greyware and colour coated ware).
Rest glazed and unglazed medieval, and medieval/post-medieval Transitional.
Via NCM.

August 2000. Metal-detecting.
Finds located with GPS. See finder's map (S1) and list in file, along with lists of coins and other finds. Site extended to area centred [1].

Iron Age, Roman, Middle Saxon, medieval pottery.
