Name:Bronze Age ring ditches and Neolithic flint working site

Summary

Aerial photographs from 1976 show the cropmarks of two, or possibly three ring ditches. Surface finds from 1980 to 1983 included a large quantity of Neolithic worked flint. This site lies just 130m to the southwest of Arminghall Henge (NHER 6100), and together they form a group along with a number of other ring ditches and flint working sites (NHER 9605, NHER 9592, NHER 9586).

June 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks described below are now recorded as NHER 52302 (the barrow cemetery as whole) and NHER 52303-5 (the individual barrows).

Spring 1980. Fieldwalking.
Found in drilled field (finder's Site 333c):
Neolithic/Bronze Age flint scatter comprising 12 flakes, 1 scraper, 1 blade core and 1 large blade.

1982-1983. Fieldwalking.
Further finds, retained by finder:
2 Mesolithic flint tranchet axes, 1 ?forgery of tranchet axe
1 flint blade core and 5 blades of unspecified date.
Also 300-400 other flints from same site not seen.
