Full description

Before June 1971. Stray find.
Recovered from Stonegate.
Fragments of dressed oolitic limestone (Barnack-type) found just below modern disturbance and above soil containing sherds of Grimston jug and curfew (see (S1) fig. 141, no. 34), a Grimston Thetford-type storage jar ((S1) fig. 77, no. 1), and an Andennes-type jug ((S1) fig. 101, no. 6). It is possible that the building stone came from the Ladybridge chapel (NHER 5551) which stood just to the north of this spot.
See excavation report (S1).
A. Carter (KLAS).
