Summary

The flint foundations of an early post medieval building were recorded in 1966. Metal detecting and fieldwalking have recovered a Bronze Age rapier, Roman coins and pottery, a Roman terret and medieval and post medieval coins and metal finds.

Full description

1966. About 31m (70 yds) northwest of Walnut Tree Farm.
Scatter of Roman sherds, 2nd century, in ploughed field.

1966.
Flint foundations noted in field adjacent to Walnut Tree Farm.
Early 16th century basically.

January - February 1999. Found in arable field over area between Walnut Tree Farm and copse.
1 Roman greyware jar/bowl rim.
1 basal sherd Oxfordshire mortarium.
1 body sherd with bunghole Late medieval/early post medieval.
1 strap handle Glazed Grimston.
1 twisted handle, medieval unglazed jug.

1 medieval purse frame central boss (with Tau-cross symbol of St Anthony), 3 lead pot mends and 1 thimble.
1 post-medieval coin.
