Summary

The late post medieval period drainage pump here ceased to be used in 1943. Since then the brick tower has been used as a house. A commemorative clay pipe dated to 1863 has been used to suggest the original build date of the drainage pump.

Full description

22 September 1976. Site visit by E. Rose (NAU).
Drainage pump.
Brick tower remains, with later pointed cap.
Scoop wheel remains in boarded cover. Now used as ?house.
Modern pumping station beside it.

Said to have ceased working 1943 after the adjacent electric pump was added in 1942.
Clay pipe found under floor commemmorating 1863 engagement of Prince of Wales and Alexandra believed by owner to mark date of building.
