E. Rose, (NAU) 28 September 1978.

1991. Building Survey.
Examination by Brooke Society.
See report (S1) for further details.
Shows further internal details since revealed including elaborate bracket in crosswing. Their conclusion is that the building is a 17th century lobby entrance house with crosswing and stair turret added late 17th century.
This seems questionable and the building really needs a re-examination.
E. Rose, (NLA) 2 December 1991.

See (S2) which seems to say that the whole building is of early 17th century date, with 19th century alteration, on a lobby entrance plan.
Some balusters were removed to Waterfield Cottage.
Also listed is a 17th century timber framed barn of 4 bays with arched braces to the tiebeams and windbracing.
E. Rose (NLA), 25 November 1998.
